Microcopy
Before & Afters
UX Writing is a creative process and I like to play with microcopy outside the scope of my day-to-day work.
I regularly look for examples of microcopy that could be improved, and have fun with them.
Check out some of my microcopy "Before & Afters".

You really need to work just to get through the original confirmation message, and there is no hierarchy to the information.
I wanted to:
-
keep all the original text
-
tidy it up
-
focus on the most important action for the user
-
create a clear hierarchy
-
get rid of all the 'click here's

Too much information. Cognitive overload!
Arrgghh...
I can't focus on any of this. What do they want from me? Where do I put the email? Where do I confirm?
This is one big mess - too much information, too busy and too unclear. The microcopy is shouting at me.
Clear, simple and useful
Getting rid of overkill graphics and microcopy cleans this up nicely. A simple, clear, useful message telling the user what to do and what to expect, works way better.
